Breaking new
grounds is not uncommon at ASENAV Shipyard, however the outcome of our
involvement in Fast Ferry and Cruise Ship construction will be admired for
years to come.
The shipyard
teamed up with a Norwegian designer for several fast catamarans built under
license from this prestigious company.
These vessels operate in the southernmost part of
South
America
known as
Patagonia
,
which is part of both
Chile
and
Argentina
,
to bring this beautiful yet remote landscape within the reach of first class
tourists.
Another very
distinctive impact on the cruise industry was made by the delivery of the 55 m
“Mystique Princess”, which is equipped as a luxury Cruise Ship for 70 to 90
passengers. This vessel was delivered to
Blue Lagoon Cruise of Fiji Islands according a design of Burness Corlett of
Australia. It is important to note that
Susan Puleo of
U.S.A.
developed the interior design of this cruise vessel.
Also worthy
of mention is the construction of the expedition cruise vessel “Mare
Australis”, which explores the world’s untouched southernmost regions of
Patagonia
and
Tierra del Fuego
. She was specially designed for such area and
navigation route and according customers requests. The steel hull and aluminium superstructure
vessel is 70.1 m. long, with a beam of 13.4 m., and is fitted out with 65
comfortable staterooms.
Additionally
a sister ship, the “Via Australis”, was constructed after for same customer and
in 2008 such customer ordered to ASENAV a third cruise vessel, but much bigger
(with 100 passenger cabins, previous two had only 65 cabins each one).
In 2005
ASENAV confronted also an important challenge by receiving an order to
construct a sophisticated expedition vessel, with only 15 passenger cabins, but
with interiors very luxury and of high level. She was basically conceived with the concept of a “floating fishing
lodge”. This vessel, with an helicopter
platform for up to 2 helicopters, the “Atmosphere”, is operating commercially
and very successfull in the Chilean Patagonia area since season 2006/2007.
